Mercury News reports that Apple has just purchased a 98-acre campus that HP used until this summer. With this acquisition, Apple becomes the largest land owner in Curpertino. HP consolidatred their operations back to Palo Alto, closer to their headquarters.
Apple currently occupies 57 buildings and is reportedly bursting at the seams. The new campus, which housed HP desktop computer division as well as a high-tech briefing center for showing clients new products, will allow Apple to expand its staff for products such as iPad and the new iPhone for Verizon.

Hewlett Packard posted strong gains for the quarter. Apparently the dustup over the departure of Mr. Hurd and the choice of his new successor has not affected the company in a negative way. This morning's report is below:
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- November 23 2010 Shares of the world's largest computer maker, Hewlett-Packard rose 2% in preopen trading on Tuesday, a day after it posted earnings ahead of Wall Street analyst expectations. Hewlett-Packard on Monday reported a 5% gain in quarterly profit, and posted a stronger-than-expected outlook. H-P said it earned $2.5 billion, or $1.10, compared with a profit of $2.4 billion, or 99 cents a share, for the year-earlier period....
